I Am John's Stomach Pains. On The Precipice of Mediocrity, Teetering |
Thursday, August 31, 2006 Casey At The Bat Yesterday, my softball team's season came to an end, as we lost "game 2" of the championship game. We played in a double elimination bracket, going in with first place, but losing our first outing, we had a rough time to get to the finals. Still we had three strong games in the losers bracket, and then faced the team who sent us there for last night's game. Sadly, while defensively we played well, Quick & Dirty's bat just wasn't there last night, with it taking three inning to even get through our line-up for the first time. As with every other game of the season, I was starting pitcher, but I had serious problem on the mound, giving up too-juicy pitches to a young, strong team. Too many flat pitches that they could wallop and not ugly enough pitches when I was ahead in the count, and my coach pulled me by the 3rd inning... it's strange being pulled form a game because I was throwing too good of strikes... oh well, hopefully next season I'll get some improvement in my arc. Anyway, aside from losing the championship (if we had won, we woulda needed to beat them again), I was really happy with our season as a whole. It was our first season without our star female pitcher from previous seasons, and getting saddled with being the pitcher of the team didn't go over too badly. I struggled occasionally, but for how I came in, wasn't too disappointed. My bat during the season fluctuated in effectiveness, but I knocked in enough RBIs that I'm not gonna beat myself up over it. Just need to lose some weight by next year so I'll be able to get to first by a step or two earlier... Good thing is that it looks like my softball career isn't done just yet, as I'll be joining another league in the town I live in, so here hoping that goes well. posted by Holz | 3:07 PM | Rant & Rave, Bitches!
