Props for Shrek 2
Went to go see Shrek 2 this past weekend, and I must say, it was absolutely hilarious. Probably the funniest movie I've seen in theaters in a long time. Now, I have some major problems with the original... I think it mixes its messages to much, resulting in some bad results. In a movie that seemed to pride itself on not judging a book by it's cover, it certainly made fun of short people. And the ending seemed to be anti-mixed relations... it was almost telling people that it's better to look the same instead of embracing ones differences.
But, anyway, the sequel didn't seem to raise as many eyebrows from me in that way, so I'm happy about that. The addition of Puss-in-Boots was a stroke of brilliance, with Antonio voicing a truly memorable character. If there's one problem I saw, it was that the character was almost too adult... this movie certainly isn't for kids. The Gingerbread Man and Pinochio are also get two fun roles this time.
