Best Scene of the Season and More Mars, Bitches!
For any of you who are not watching Veronica Mars, you are seriously missing out. Not only has every show been phenomenal, but each episode has just built and built and built. The penultimate episode last night, which I've already watched twice, was probably their strongest yet, as Veronica's rapist (mentioned in the pilot) is finally revealed. But, as most shows would make the reveal to be the climax, the big scene between Veronica and her rapist last night occurred at the end of Act II, and boy, was it a doozy. The confrontation between the two, tears, screaming, confessions... holy shit, it was f'n amazing. But even after that awesome scene, the gang goes even further with a helluva cliffhanger. Only one more episode to go... I'm gonna go into some theorizing... no spoilers for the finale, but I'll hide my thoughts (as well as reveal who the rapist is if you haven't watched the ep from last night yet) in inviso-test (highlight to read):
Begin brain-bubbling
So, my theory that Abel Koontz was actually Lilly's murderer (shared by the recapper at TWoP) seems to be shot with the reveal of Abel having an alibi. The rage-against-the-machine antics from Duncan seem to be a red herring, and seeing as he was the "reveal" of the rapist (which was technically "consensual", and looks to be InYay! to the half-sibling degree... way to one-up Lost, Rob Thomas! I also think Logan's fun with the video camera at the end is another red herring... the combo of the locked liquor cabinet, as well as the drapes with Harry Hamlin and Lisa Rena pictures on it made it seem that was Haaron's playroom, not Logan's.
So, we come to the main suspects: Lilly's step-mother, who is the most obvious choice. Logan, whose alibi was supposed to be rock-solid, but it hasn't been discussed too much. Weevil, who obviously has some big secret still hidden... although I see plenty of potential in the character, so I hope not. Haaron could have been having an affair with Lilly, and having Harry Hamlin being the murderer would be the biggest shock of any of the suspects. Then, there's Clarence Weidmann, who while quite possible, doesn't give the viewer the best feeling of closure... sure the guy's creepy, but we've never seen his full story. Same goes for Veronica's mother, who returned last night.
My biggest fear, looking at the title for next episode, is that they're gonna go with Beaver as the killer, which would just totally suck, and would seriously harm the show. We the viewers have invested way too much to get shafted like that.
So, a week before the finale, before there's any chance of me being accidentally spoiled... my guess for Lilly Kane's killer is... I'm gonna go out on a limb and go with Haaron, Logan's dad. Why? I don't know... the affair angle, and subsequent cover-up by the Kane family can't be explained either... oh well, find out in a week. End brainfarts
Update: My spoiler tags don't appear to be working... sorry. Update II: Yay, fixed it... stupid fix, I wish html-[spoiler] tags worked...
