Geekgasms

Couple things that just make this geek squirm in his seat.

  • I thought that Jon Favreau couldn't have done better casting for next year's Iron Man when he grabbed Robert Downey, Jr. Now they have Samuel L. "I'm Sick And Tired of These Mother-Fucking Hydra on This Mother-Fucking Helicarrier" Jackson as Col. Nick Fury. Doesn't get any better than that.

  • The more I read about the iPhone, the more and more excited I get. If you haven't checked out all the amazing specs of the gizmo, I highly recommend taking 15 minutes outta your day and then get a new pair of pants. I'm planning on heading out of work a bit early next Friday to get in (sure to be there) line for the 6pm door opening.

  • I haven't really been talking about it much, but the movie I've been most excited for this summer hasn't been Spider-Man or Pirates, it's been Transformers. July 3rd cannot get here soon enough. Not a single frame I've seen has made me question the drool-worthiness factor I've had for the past year. Michael Bay, if you do this right, I will forgive Pearl Harbor. I promise.

  • On the comics front, I've thought about bringing back the Comic Watch of the Week, which I haven't done in nearly two years! I'm still going strong and getting 'em every week, just haven't had the urge to discuss much stuff, but with the big reveal in last week's New Avengers (*spoiler* Elektra's Been A Skrull For A Long Time *spoiler*) has me excited for the Marvel line for the first time in a long time. Civil War left me very cold, and aside from X-Factor, the mutant line hasn't interested me in years. But thankfully the other companies have kept my interest, with Y: The Last Man racing to the finish line, Buffy Season 8 delivering the goods, and DC's Blue Beetle publishing my favorite teen-centric book since Runaways. Keep an eye out (if you're interested, else you can skip 'em)

  • Not completely geek-related, but it is on the internet, and I am kinda (a little more than kinda) excited for it: Kristine and I's Wedding Page is up and running with stuff constantly being added to it, so feel free to pop on by and drop us a line. We should be adding to "The Story" periodically til the big day next summer. You may notice that the BNL song on there is a little... odd, for a wedding page, but seeing as it's my favorite song of there's, Night Nurse was kind enough to include it on our initial setup.

  • ...ETA, can't believe I forgot this, but next month, they are finally releasing one of my favorite movies from my childhood, The Monster Squad. Best thing is that K found out before me, and the order has already been submitted to Amazon. Thanks baby! Anyway, for those who may just remember it as a poor-man's Goonies... well, you may be right, but it still kicks ass, and has some of the funniest lines from the 80's. "DOESN'T COUNT?!?!"

Better Sam Jackson be Fury than Rhodey. I'd have killed someone then. Oh and The Replacements is funny.

Need to wait until next February to get a new phone and a new company.

Transformers looks amazing. I almost won tickets on the radio to a screening of it. And by "almost" I mean "not even close" but I did try.

Bring back the comic stuff. I had to drop all my titles except for Exiles so I am out of the loop. Must. Live. Vicariously.

I bookmarked the wedding page. Will check it out later.

"Wolfman Got Nards!!!!!" Dude, had I know about your like for it, I'd have clued you in back in Feb. when I found out.

Hmm.... so my Spoiler font didn't work in IE... strange. Worked fine in Firefox... but hey, everyone should be running Firefox, anyway.

Ahhh - Transformers, I have to thank their makers - the best babysitter a Mother ever had. Wish I could be with you to see them come to life - happy memories for me. You were just so darn cute!

Love,
Mom
