![]() Wednesday, March 26, 2008 Two Quick Movie Reviews Caught No Country For Old Men finally, and in a word: Overrated. I was expecting genius, but as happens nearly every time I see a Coen brothers flick (except for The Big Lebowski) I am completely let down and annoyed at the shitty cinema I'd just seen. What the hell are critics smoking? The flick has one - one - somewhat entertaining scene with Josh Brolin sitting in silence in a hotel room, and other than that, it's a bore from start to finish, emphasis on finish. It's not that the ending is stupid, or makes you think, it's simply fucking annoying. I'm sorry, I need closure in a movie... or at least an ending that gives some type of payoff to the viewer. I don't know why I let myself get excited for Coen brothers flicks, they leave a bad taste in my mouth every time. 1.5 out of 5 stars, if only for Act II of the flick. Second, Night Nurse and I had our first date night in a while last night, once more before we bring Loki into the house, and we caught Vantage Point. We'd heard critical drubbing of it, but all-in-all, we both enjoyed it immensely. As long as you know going into it you're gonna see the same 20 minutes or so from different perspectives, it's a helluva good time. And while one of the "surprises" is telegraphed so badly the descendant's of Samuel Morse deserve royalties, I have to say the flick got better and better each time, recommended for fans of 24 and the like. 4 out of 5 Stars. posted by Holz | 2:24 PM | Rant & Rave, Bitches! If I made the Big Lebowski, I would just stop making movies, because I couldn't make anything better. I just finished drinking a White Russian, as well. It was delicious.
Thanks for the reminder. I'm sitting at Claim Jumper right now, drinking a vanilla White Russian myself. By Holz, at 3/26/2008 6:19 PM So you are saying I should have Kahlua and milk ready for when you visit? By Tom, at 3/27/2008 9:53 PM |
