The Big Three-Oh (The Good One)

No, not at 30 years old just yet (even though my dad loves to point out that I'm "almost 30"). This is in regards to my total weight lost on my diet since starting Nutrisystem on Aug 20th. Yep, this week, I broke the 30 pound barrier, and kept on going. My weigh-in this morning was 211.2, a total weight loss of over 31 pounds in 7 weeks!

To say I'm amazed is an understatement. Not only am I lighter than I've been since I moved out to California, I'm lighter than the weight I lied about on my driver's license, too! Yes, I'm not ashamed to admit, even guys lie about their weight, even to themselves.

When I started this diet, my goal was to make 200 pounds by my wedding day. If I keep up even a fraction of my weight loss, I should hit that target before Thanksgiving (maybe even Halloween!). So, since then, I've set a new goal of 185 for myself, and seeing as I have 300 days until I wait at the end of the aisle, the real challenge I'll be facing is whether or not I'll be able to keep it up.

Personally, I think I can. Even when I "cheat" now, I'm curtailing the binging. The cravings I've been getting can usually be satiated by a single slice of pizza, or a one-off danish, and that happens rarely. Add in the fact Night Nurse and I are out running/walking at least 2 miles every day (I actually foresee a non-stop 10 minute mile in my not-too-distant future, which for me is just insane), and it doesn't seem like a punishment as much as... dare I say it, fun...

To top it all off, I had my first co-worker - who didn't know I was dieting - blurt out at the beginning of a meeting this week that I had lost alot of weight.

That feels really good.

Congrats man. I got in to the habit of running too, and I hated it at first, but I kept going and I began to enjoy it.
